Lanzarote Marathon, 07.12.2024

My third time at the Lanzarote Marathon, but the first time coming from Scotland! Hence, it was a bit more of a mission to get to, but well worth it.

3 hour drive to Edinburgh after work on Thursday with Andrew and Tricia, a stay in the Purple Palace, and an early flight out of Edinburgh on Friday morning.

Met Sarah at Lanzarote airport!

Found our villa, in near Teguise, about 15 minutes from Costa Teguise, then headed to pick up our running numbers at the Expo.

Prepared with pizza, relaxing at the villa, and an early night.

Andrew kindly gave us a lift to the start, just in time to see the sunrise! I found the organisation of the marathon wasn't as good as normal this year, but it was still a great event. Caught up with lots of marathon friends from back home at the start, then an excellent chat-athon followed with Sarah, and Craig for the first half, which was superb fun.

The marathon is an out and back along the coast to just past the airport in Arrecife, and it's a lovely route, I do like it a lot.

Weather was nice and warm and sunny the whole time, and windy on the way back on the second half.

Nice to see more friends afterwards, and soak up the atmosphere.

Made the most of an extra week out there with plenty of sightseeing.
