100 Days of Running Days 65 & 66 - 700 MILES!!!

Day 65 (05.07.15)
  • First thing today - Happy Birthday to my Mum!
  • Went to bed about 1.30 am after the marathon. Wasn't sure on what to do about eating afterwards, as normally would try to eat a meal a few hours after finishing, but I was asleep. So got up about 9 am and had breakfast - hotel breakfast = yummy! Felt better.
  • Travelled home.
  • Had a nap.
  • Went for a  5 km run up the Regents Canal, along the Hertford Union Canal, into Victoria Park and back along the Regents Canal. Hamstrings hurt each step for the first mile, hurt a bit less for the next mile, then stopped hurting, and I could have carried on. Always surprises me that, can be sat around at home the day after a marathon and legs feel like they're ruined, but going for a run seems to ease the discomfort.

Day 66 (06.05.15): REACHED 700 MILES TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very excited about this! Means only 300 miles left to reach my target distance of 1000 miles, and I have 34 days left to do it. Ran a 10 km around the city to see some more DNA sculptures around St Paul's.

After some initial trouble with finding them, I found two! This one is called After The Race (seems appropriate), by Ross Brawn (from F1). I like his inspiration for the design - our body starts life shiny and new, like a racing car. As we live our lives, our faculties deteriorate, but we carry on with what we have, again like a racing car (although really in F1 I think they probably just get new bits, like new tyres every 2 laps, but anyway). So this sculpture represents a racing car after the race.

Then this one is called The Birth of the Universe by Andrew Logan, inspired by the universe, where we all came from.

They were both shiny and bright in the sunshine, complimenting the red flashes of buses, and green dashes of the gardens, amongst the grey of city.

  1. Thank you for the Happy Birthday wishes. I had a much lazier weekend than you did!! 700 miles!! Well done. That's like running all the way from Chorley to Northiam (East Sussex/Kent border for those who don't know)and back to Chorley and then turning round and running back to Birmingham!!! Phew.
    Mum xx
