Cyclops Marathon with Phoenix, 17.05.2021

Today it was back at Phoenix, but the blue bridge route. Ran with Craig, for a long overdue catch up! We talked the way around 8 laps, had an inadvertent competition of who swallowed the most midges (I won, 6-2), and compared our current running streaks (which Craig won, obviously - he  is doing 32 marathons in 32 days and has done 18 now, I've done 3 marathons in 3 days, and have done 3 now 😂). Massive thank you to Craig for using his 32 in 32 to raise money for Hannah's GoFundMe page for her cancer treatment- thank you so much Craig!!! ❤

The weather was "interesting" again. First 5 laps were lovely weather if quite humid, lap 6 and 7 it was raining on and off, and by lap 8 the sky had gone dark, there was thunder and lightening, and we got caught in a monsoon with an extra special feature (hail).

I love the medal! I have been reading about Cyclopes this afternoon. I know nothing about Greek mythology, but I have learned the following Cyclopes facts, including that there are two types!

- Hesoid's (a Greek poet) cyclopes were giant divine blacksmiths and there were three - Arges (Thunderer), Steropes (Lightner) and Brontes (Vivid). They helped Zeus (who, I think was the cyclopes' nephew) overthrow his dad Cronus (who seems to be a right crony - he imprisoned all his brothers including the Cyclopes, and can you believe it, tried to eat all of his children as soon as they were born) by forging Zeus's giant thunderbolt. So, maybe they were around in the sky today after all, forging plenty of thunderbolts!

- Homer's (a different Greek poet) cyclopes were giant and violently ferocious shepherds, who were related to Poseidon but who lived in the world of humans. They seems to be less helpful in general than Hesoid's cyclopes, and passed the time with activities mostly along the lines of murdering and eating people.

Thanks Phoenix for a great couple of days on the towpath!

Good luck to all the TiTs/ TwiTs/ new TiTs starting soon, and all the other challenges people have going on. You're all doing amazingly well, and will smash your targets!
